A 17 mile underground tunnel created to accelerate proton beams in search of the origins of the universe. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) CERN is seeking to discover parallel universes, and the Higgs Boson or “God Particle” they think is responsible for the Big Bang over 15 billion years ago, with the next firing of the upgraded system beginning in June of 2015. The original LHC Located on the border of Switzerland located in Geneva was turned on in September of 2008 and a week later shut down due to mechanical failure.
