In my family growing up we were well aware of the fame and notoriety of our relative Francis Rogel. He was a great football player (playing Fullback and Linebacker) who attained leading rusher heights while playing for Penn State, in the 40’s, and ultimately the Pittsburg Steelers in the 50’s.

Here is an interesting article about the 47 Penn State Lions and what may be considered their best team ever, making it to the Cotton Bowl in an undefeated season (9-0) and ending in a 13-13 tie with SMU. This was also the first time a colored player, two actually from Penn State, played in the Cotton Bowl.
