How “Good” is A Good Guy with a Gun?

A Christian Response to a Controversial Question, which Should Not be Controversial.
— By R. Tyler Rogel

Is it loving or christian to arm yourself and be prepared to defend the weak against evil actions?

Did you know that a good guy with a gun is the most effective deterrent to mass shootings?*

*See the John Stossel Video (link below)

Did you know the FBI and the main stream media avoid the truth about it, preferring to promote the narrative that good guys with guns are ineffective and cause more trouble than they solve?

Were you aware that within Christian discipleship that we are advised to add something the bible calls “Virtue” to our faith? In 2nd Peter chapter 1 and verse 5 the apostle gives us a framework for successful discipleship.

Virtue is a very interesting word, when we consider it’s meaning we find this definition from the strong’s concordance of biblical greek words:

(Greek) ἀρέτη arétē, ar-et’-ay; from the same as G730; properly, manliness (valor), i.e. excellence (intrinsic or attributed):—praise, virtue.

If we consider this idea of “Manliness” or “Valor” as the second step in our growth of discipleship, it carries an incredibly important concept that has been lost in most all modern Christian circles.

Manliness or value is understood to mean things that take great strength, courage, and force of will.

I am making the case that to be armed for standing against the perpetrators of evil in our day is part of what this is calling each person to as disciples of Jesus Christ. We, as American Christians have an incredible right that our government has long enshrined and recognized, much to the extreme consternation of the godless and more communistic-minded among us, the ability to legally possess and carry a firearm. A tool of incredible power, giving even the weakest saint the ability to very possibly equal the playing fields in societal interaction where the bully is typically all powerful.

As demonstrated many times in the attached video, a good guy with a gun is not only capable of turning the tides in precarious situations, it actually happens way more than is reported.

As Christians, part of our responsibility in the United States, is to act valiantly and consider arming oneself in the off-chance that you may be called upon to confront great evil in real-time.

And if you find yourself in a dangerous situation and are not armed with a firearm, we always should remember that we are armed with the Spirit of Jesus Christ, who empowered David to vanquish Goliath. That same spirit lives in each of us as believers. But it is of great practical benefit to “add valor to our faith”, purchase a reliable firearm, and become familiar with it so that if and when you need it your are as confident as David to face your Goliath!
